I live in San Francisco CA, and I was recently at Graton Casino playing my freeplays that I received from the casino to try and win some extra cash. Mind you I am low income, below poverty, and disabled. I went to casino on the shuttle bus that runs you roundtrip for only $*, which also gets comp'd back to you that day. I also was there with my friend who decided to check his bag once we arrived, I had a back pack that was very light, therefore I didn't check mine, just carried it. The casino attendant checks your carry in bag or purse upon arriving as well as most of the time once you leave the building and then reenter. Everything was good and fine up until I was done playing as was my friend who had went to the bag claim to receive his bag so that we then could catch the next shuttle back to San Francisco. I decided to play a few more dollars while waiting and got a soda from a server.
It sounds like you had quite an experience at the casino. Could you let me know what specific legal issue or concern you have regarding this situation?
I will continue when you are ready
I'm ready to assist you, ****. Could you let me know what specific legal issue or concern you have regarding this situation at the casino?
Yes, as I was saying, I played another few dollars and then decided to cash out and move myself closer to the walkway and restrooms to watch for my friend and charge my cell phone. I did and then realized I left my soda down the other end where I was playing. I got up quickly looking to see who all was around and thought it to be fine to leave my things and just grab my drink.

****, it seems like you might be concerned about the security of your belongings at the casino. Did something happen to your items when you left them unattended to grab your drink?

No problem there and then I texted my friend to let him know where I was and to hurry so we don't miss the next shuttle. He said he would do so and his phone was gonna die so stay there. Ok no problems...until I notice some security down the was that keep looking in my direction.

****, it seems like the security being attentive made you uncomfortable. Could you clarify if you felt harassed or if any issue arose with the security personnel? This will help determine if there's a legal concern here.

I then look up and a security worker approached and asked if he could see my id due to the possibility that I may not be aloud to be in the casino. I replied with a little sarcasm and said well sure not a problem because you have the wrong person. He replied that he will decide that. I said excuse me, but I don't know of any reason why you would need to tell me I can't be here.

It sounds like you had an uncomfortable interaction with the security personnel at the casino. In New Jersey, security has the right to check IDs for various reasons, including security concerns. If you feel your rights were violated or you were discriminated against, you might consider filing a complaint with the casino or seeking legal advice. However, based on your description, it seems like a misunderstanding rather than a legal issue.
Did the security personnel provide you with any reason or explanation after checking your ID?
