I was pressured to settle an eviction case.
Hey ****! Being pressured to settle an eviction case can be stressful. In Arkansas, tenants have rights that protect them from unfair eviction practices. Could you tell me if you feel the settlement was unfair or if you were coerced into it?
I feel that I was pressured to sign by my representatives to settle and I feel that the terms disproportionately harm me as I'm under a non-disparagememt agreement that prevents me from reporting a physically violent agent of the property.
That's a tough situation, ****. In Arkansas, you have rights, and feeling coerced into a settlement that includes a non-disparagement agreement can be concerning.
- Non-disparagement clauses often aim to prevent negative statements about the other party.
- Eviction settlements should be fair and not forced.
Would you like assistance finding a local lawyer who can help you evaluate the agreement's validity and your options?

I was discriminated against on the basis of my sexuality and disability by a worker. The propery management was part of an extended foster care program that I was accepted to. The worker served as a designated transporter who continued to harass me after I made reports. Eventually, the program retaliated against me by giving me a 3 day notice from "debt" that was previously forgiven. I went to legal aid for assistance where my original attorney assigned to my case could no longer represent me due to outside circumstances. The person who filled in said that we (meaning legal aid) would not take the case to trial. I felt beyond pressured to sign settlement and I didn't have a way to be properly represented as I had invested my time into that legal service. The issue, however, is that I've already signed settlement.

I made reports to DHS, which is why the program retaliated against me. They initially cut me off transportation, and when the worker intentionally attempted to overstimulate me by blarring the radio repeatedly after taking a detour, they sent out a report with false details to DHS in order to justify cutting me off of transportation services. When I was contacting my attorney ad litem, a worker reported me to management who then opted to remove based on her past threats to me about not reaching out to outside help.
