I'm not sure if I have a case but it pertains to child support. My case is in Texas and through the attorney general the other party asked me to pay the child support direct and not go through the state so we could just submit the paperwork through them. I paid the remaining balance on my case ($*) the check is was made out to her and it was a cashiers check with the memo noted for child support. Is there a way to go after her for this money back since she will not report it that I have paid it. would it be worth going after her for the money and also for lawyer fees or just pay the balance directly to the state to fix this?
Here are some general steps you might consider:
- Document Everything: Keep all records of payments, communications, and agreements.
- Contact the Attorney General: Inform them of the situation and provide proof of payment.
- Legal Advice: Consult a local attorney in Texas to explore options for reclaiming the money or ensuring it's credited.
- Future Payments: Consider paying through the state to ensure proper documentation.
