I bought a car through a private sale in montana. The car was collateral in a security agreement that the debtor defaulted on. I was led to believe that the debtor would sign title over to secured party and i would be able to obtain the title after that. After 6 months had passed i quit making payments on the car due to the fact that the title was not forthcoming. A year and a half passed and i was arrested for theft of a light vehicle. I found out that The secured party tried to call the car in stolen and was told that she could not because she wasnt on the title. A month later she contacted the original debtor and had her call the car in stolen. I had over $* worth of property in that car as well as $*,* in payments.
