I live in MS. A dealership sold me a pickup and slipped a VSC into the deal for $ *.*. By the next day, I was trying to get that removed from the contract. I have been documenting everything through ChatGPT with dates and times. The dealership directed me to the lender, and the lender directed me back to the dealership. It took me two days to even get the dealership to tell me the name and phone number of the VSC company. They are giving me the runaround about rescinding that VSC and having it removed from my finance contract. I purchased the vehicle on */*/*, and I have been working on this since */*/*. What are my rights?
In Mississippi, you may have specific rights regarding rescinding a Vehicle Service Contract (VSC):
- Review your contract for any cancellation terms or cooling-off periods.
- The Mississippi Consumer Protection Act may offer remedies if deceptive practices were involved.
- Document all communication with the dealership and lender.
Have you considered contacting the Mississippi Attorney General's Office for consumer protection assistance?

To date, I have sent a certified letter with return receipt to the dealership on */*/* requesting that they rescind the contract. They did not give me a policy from the VSC Company or even a policy number; they simply inserted it in my contract as a single line item.
It sounds like you're taking the right steps by documenting everything and sending a certified letter. Here's what you might consider next:
- Follow up with the dealership regarding your certified letter.
- Contact the Mississippi Attorney General's Office for further guidance on consumer protection.
- Consider seeking legal advice for potential deceptive practices or breaches of contract terms.
Would you like help connecting with local lawyers who can assist further?

The full amount of the contract is *.*. In Mississippi, it is very hard to recover legal fees in a court case of this type. Handing it over to an attorney will probably cost me more than the extended warranty will cost me.

Thank you. I will do that after I contact the VSC company on Monday morning. Possibly, the VSC company will allow me to cancel this contract.
