Debt Collector False Reporting

Summary

If a debt collector falsely reports a delinquency on your credit report, you may have grounds to sue for damages under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The FDCPA requires debt collectors to provide accurate information and validate debts upon request, while the FCRA protects against false reporting and allows individuals to dispute inaccuracies on credit reports. You can potentially sue for actual damages, attorney fees, and possibly punitive damages. Keep all records of your communications with the debt collector and credit agencies, as they could be helpful if you decide to pursue legal action. Consider consulting a consumer protection lawyer who specializes in FDCPA and FCRA cases for personalized advice.

I reached out to a couple lawyers here they wouldnt help same with a couple in Dallas. They told me just to wait and see what results my complaints get. In the mean time my car insurance premiums went up i was trying to purchase a home and was turned down by multiple mortgage companies because of the delinquency showing * to 90 days, and the impact it had on my acctual score. I was at right of loosing my job because of my Secret Security Clearance, I have to go to my chain of command and have embarrassing conversations and self report the matter. My business was denied equipment loans, hell its been a few weeks and my credit score never jumped back up but it sure knocked it down
