I am being harassed by a scam from a shady company I purchased a logo from 4 years ago. I want to know how to get rid of there and be sure there's no validity to what they are demanding.
Hello ****, sorry to hear about your situation. Could you please clarify what they are demanding specifically from you? This will help me provide you with the most relevant legal information.
the company is Olive Logo which has a lot of bad reviews online and folks complaining about the same scam I am. I purchased a logo from them 4 years ago for my business. I never heard from them again til now. I never used the logo because it was not what I wanted. I paid them for it instead of trying to deal with their designer. I never used the logo for my business, website, or anywhere. They are now claiming since March that I either need to pay them to extend my "rights" to the logo, or pay their lawyer to create a closure letter if I'm not going to use the logo. This doesn't make sense because the logo was my property after I bought it. Also there are a lot of red flags about the way they are going about this. I have been ignoring them totally since my first interaction.
I'm sorry to hear about your situation, ****. It's crucial to review the original agreement you signed with Olive Logo. In Maryland, the following laws might be applicable:
- Maryland Consumer Protection Act (Md. Code Ann., Com. Law II ยง *-*)
- The Digital Millenium Copyright Act
You could consider filing a complaint with Maryland Attorney General's Office or consult a local attorney for advice.
Thanks
