Recently this app called moonpay allowed me to buy crypto with apple pay (using my debit / credit cards), and in the app you enter the amount of dollars you pay, and it shows you the amount of crypto, and a little arrow next to that if u click it THEN it shows you the fees that get deducted from the amount. Do I have a case to file a chargeback/dispute on this? I bought and spent a lot of crypto before noticing that the fees were very big
Hi Rao! You might have a case for a chargeback or dispute if the fees were not clearly disclosed upfront. Here are some points to consider:
- Consumer Protection Law: Israeli consumer protection laws require clear disclosure of costs and fees.
- Terms and Conditions: Check Moonpay's terms and conditions to see if they have clearly stated the fees.
- Documentation: Gather any documentation showing the fee disclosure or lack thereof.
Have you already contacted Moonpay's customer service about this issue?
no i have not, but they can argue that the fees are disclosed via showing me the actual amount of crypto im getting can they not? to be hoenst its not very clear as the numbers are big
Hi Rao! It sounds like you may have a valid concern under Israeli consumer protection laws. Here are some points to consider:
- Disclosure: Fees must be clearly disclosed. Hidden or unclear fee structures can be challenged.
- Transparency: If the fees were not immediately obvious, you might have a case.
Have you considered contacting Moonpay’s customer service for clarification or to file a formal complaint?
