Western Dental is invoicing me for $* where a large portion of that bill is for this gumx periodontal treatment I got suckered into without realizing. I was there for a cleaning and to check about a potentially cracked tooth. I didn't realize I would immediately get up s
It seems like you might be dealing with an issue related to informed consent. In California, healthcare providers must inform patients about the treatments and any associated costs. You might consider:
- Reviewing any paperwork you signed.
- Contacting Western Dental to discuss your concerns.
- Filing a complaint with the California Dental Board if necessary.
Did they provide you with any documentation explaining the treatment and costs before proceeding?
No documentation that I can remember. Just verbal. It's kind of a blur. I was pretty emotional and nervous about the whole situation with my tooth and didn't fully realize what I was signing up for at the time. I called them back within * hours to cancel and they wouldn't budge. Not even negotiate. I said the lab doesn't even have the mold of my teeth yet and they can cancel it, but they were rude and refused and wouldn't hear me out. I still haven't received any product but they are charging me and saying they will send it to collections soon. I haven't received any product.
It sounds like a frustrating situation. Here are some steps you might consider:
- Review California's consumer protection laws regarding verbal agreements and informed consent.
- Contact the California Dental Board to file a complaint.
- Consider sending a formal written dispute to Western Dental, outlining your concerns and request for cancellation.
- Consult with a consumer protection attorney for further assistance.

Consumer protection attorney sounds pricey and time consuming. I have sent them a detailed written dispute to corporate and got a rude call back where they refused to hear me out and just denied the refund or even a talk for negotiating a partial refund.
