In Colombia, these could be your general options:
*. Apply for a public defender through Colombia's Office of the Public Prosecutor.

*. Explore law school clinics that provide free legal services.
*. Consider Pro Bono programs available in your area.
Remember, this is general advice and may not apply to your specific situation.

There is no public defender available in my city, and I have exhausted all of these options. What will I do?
In this case, you may want to reach out to human rights organizations in Colombia, such as the Colombian Commission of Jurists. They sometimes provide legal assistance to individuals in difficult situations. Keep in mind that this is general advice and your specific situation may vary.
What are the requirements to receive aid from them?
The Colombian Commission of Jurists often assists individuals facing legal difficulties. The requirements might vary, so it's best to contact them directly. Unfortunately, I don't have specific eligibility criteria. I'd recommend reaching out to them for the most accurate information.
What are my other options?
You could try reaching out to non-profit organizations that offer legal support to those in need, or consider online legal advice platforms. Some law firms also have pro bono initiatives.
Thank you

Hi Shaili! How can I assist you with your legal issue today?
I live in Pasadena in a non-rent controlled apartment. We received a letter from Pasadena Rent Stabilization Department (RSD) on May 8th, * that my landlord had not registered with city and was non compliant. They gave me a copy of the second reminder sent to my landlord on May 1st, * which stated landlord had 30 days to rectify or incur penalties. It also stated that during non-compliance, landlord cannot raise rent. I was informed by RSD on June 19th that they met with landlord on June 13th, * and that they are now substantially compliant with Pasadena Ordinance. My question is: I was given a lease to sign in April with *.*% increase effective June *. I signed it under duress because there no clarification by RSD or landlord. I paid high rent on June 1st, *. But now I don't know what rent to pay for July *. Also does that make my disputed lease void because it was offered during period of non-compliance?
Here are some important points regarding your situation:
- Landlords cannot raise rent during a period of non-compliance with local ordinances.
- Lease agreements signed under duress may be contested.
- The increase might be void if signed during non-compliance.
You might want to contact a tenant rights organization or legal advisor for further assistance. Would you like help finding local legal resources or contacts?

It seems like this could be a high-value case due to the potential voiding of the lease and rent increase. Would you like to be connected to local lawyers who can better assist you with your case? If so, could you please provide your phone number?
