Well i worked as a confidential informant for the mariposa sherrifs department and my name was supposed to be kept confidential. Well it wasnt and my nick name was not properly redacted from the discovery paperwork that the dictective who worked the case wrote . People have seen this paperwork now and have accused me of being a rat and threats have been made . I want the court to seal this case but also give to me a official or unoffical letter stating that the name written in the paperwork is not mine . Can this be done?
That sounds like a serious situation, ****. In California, you may be able to request the court to seal the records and address the issue of confidentiality breaches. Here's what you can generally do:
- File a Motion to Seal: Request to seal the case to protect your identity.
- Contact an Attorney: Legal counsel can assist with motions and representation.
- Request a Court Order: Ask the court for an order clarifying the misidentification.

Well what would the court clarify that isnt my name and i am not the person the name is referring too?
In your case, you can request the court to issue an order that clarifies the misidentification in the documents. This would involve:
- Motion for Clarification: Requesting the court to clarify that the name in the paperwork is not yours.
- Supporting Evidence: Providing any evidence that supports the misidentification claim.

If there is a motions for clarification filed and the name is not mine only because its a nickname will the court still be able to rule that i am not the person that is being named in that case paperwork

In a situation where a nickname is used, the court may still consider issuing a clarification if you can demonstrate that the nickname is causing misidentification. Supporting evidence or witness testimony can be crucial. Consulting a local attorney may provide more tailored advice on how to proceed effectively.

In a case like yours, a court-issued clarification might state something like:
"The court recognizes that the name 'Nickname' referenced in the case documentation does not belong to **** [Last Name]. This clarification is issued to rectify any misidentification stemming from said documentation."
This is a general example and might vary based on specific legal proceedings and evidence. Would you like to be connected to local lawyers who can better assist you with your case?
