I was wrongfully terminated from a Residential Treatment Facility for youth. I declared a physical disability on my application, during the hiring process, and during the training for physical de-escalation of violent events. I am physically unable to break up fights. On *-*-*, another staff member was attacked by a resident. I called for help and assisted as instructed. However, I couldn't intervene due to my disability. I followed all instructions for handling this type of situation but was then summarily dismissed from the position on *-*-*, with the employer stating that I had displayed "poor decision making". I feel that I was wrongfully terminated and discriminated against for my physical disability.
