I am a Disabled Veteran. I recently settled a lawsuit for wrongful termination under ADA guidelines. The case took @ 4 years to settle. My attorney works for a large firm that is located in the northeast. During this time my attorney was always quick to reply to any questions I had, whether it was via email or phone.
I signed my settlement agreement on May *. The agreement called for my former employer to issue three checks within thirty days. Two of those checks were to be sent (after my attorney received them) to me, and the third check was for legal expenses incurred by my firm.
On June *, my attorney emailed me to say that they had received one check for the total amount. They would have to have the checks reissued.
On June *, I emailed my attorney to inquire about the status of the monies. I have received no reply.
Yesterday, on June *, I emailed my attorney’s paralegal. I have received no reply.
So, as I learned in the military, should I ‘hurry up & wait?’- or should I be concerned by the silence to my queries?
I’m frustrated. We live in the digital age & I just can’t understand why I haven’t received any replies.
Suggestions? Thoughts? Am I being unreasonable? I certainly don’t want to turn into the ‘client from hell.’
