Workplace Unionization Legalities

Full Conversation

I am located in Michigan
Great, thanks for providing your location. Now, could you please explain in more detail what your workplace law question is so I can assist you better?
I work for a company in which some related to the owner occasionally works on the floor with regular employees. There has been an ongoing unionization battle between corporate and employees. According to rumors I have heard, the family member of the owners is being put on the floor with regular employees in order to secure her a vote on the side of the employees. If this rumor is true, would this be legal?
According to Michigan's labor laws:
- Employers cannot interfere with, restrain, or coerce employees in the exercise of their rights.
- Employers are not allowed to dominate or interfere with the formation or administration of any labor organization.
- Every employee has the right to form, join, or assist in labor organization activities.
If the family member is genuinely working, they have a right to vote. However, if the intent is only to influence the vote, it could be seen as an unfair labor practice.
