Hello ****, I'm sorry to hear about your situation. ****ould you please provide more details about the dispute? For instance, is there a written agreement about per diem between you and your employer?
Yes they just came out with a new policy saying if we spend over $* on food and drinks for that day that the rest will be taken out of our check. I have not signed this form yet becuase I feel its not the right thing to do when I travel for them
I see, it's crucial to understand your rights as an employee. In Texas:
- Employers may deduct expenses from your paycheck only if you've authorized it in writing.
- They can't deduct money that would bring your pay below minimum wage.
Before signing, consider seeking legal counsel.
Ok so is there any way what they are doing ok?
In Texas, employers can enact policies about per diem but they need your written authorization to deduct from your paycheck for exceeding the limit. However, they can't reduce your pay below the minimum wage. You may want to consult an attorney before signing anything.
