Job Offer Discrepancy Concerns

Summary

Employers in Arkansas can generally alter compensation, but if you have a written contract from Golden Corral stating your wage, they may be in breach of contract. If the pay rate change was discriminatory or retaliatory, it could be illegal. Consulting with a local employment law attorney is advisable for further guidance.

I was needing some advise about a situation with my place at work. I was a general manager at KFC in maumelle Arkansas for *.5 years. I found another job and was sent by email a offer letter of what i would be paid if i excepted the job. It was considerably more money and bonuses. Great insurance. So i put my notice in to KFC and they replaced my position. The other job Golden Corral said i would be training out of town for my new position. I went for 1st week which was in the middle of the week Thursday to Sunday. The next week he changed his mind about my position and put me at *.* an hr. I need to know can they do this to me. I was on salary at KFC but was still struggling so i wouldn't have left if i knew it was going to be like this. He asked if i still wanted to work there and I had no other choice but to take it. And the treatment by some managers are difficult to deal with.
I'm sorry to hear about your situation. In Arkansas, employers generally have the right to alter compensation. However:
- If you have a written contract from Golden Corral stating your wage, they may be in breach of contract.
- If your pay rate change was discriminatory or retaliatory, it could be illegal.
You may want to consult with a local employment law attorney for further guidance.
