Unpaid Pto After Resignation
Summary
Ohio law doesnt require employers to provide paid time off (PTO). However, if an employer chooses to do so, they must comply with their established policy. If theres no clear policy on payout of unused PTO upon termination, you may have a right to be paid. It could be helpful to consult with an employment law attorney for advice.Full Conversation
I am currently leaving my place of work for medical reasons and being overworked. I am a salaried employee who was not approved for any of my vacation time (* hours) because if there was no one to cover, I was responsible for doing so. I gave a * week notice two weeks ago but my employer does not want to pay me out of my PTO (OHIO). In the employee handbook, it doesn't mention anything about resigning from the organization. While emailing my employer if they could send me the policy where that states they do not pay PTO out after proper notice of leaving (for medical reasons) they responded it is the policy because I just told you so
