Whistleblower laws protect employees from retaliation, and the EEOC takes such complaints seriously. Document incidents, report to HR, and consider filing a complaint with the EEOC. Hiring a newer employee over you could indicate discrimination or favoritism. Refusal to promote you may further suggest retaliation. Hi Jennifer! How can I assist you with your legal issue today?
i made a anoymous report against my manager and director in dec * because we had a manager postion open up in our department and before interviews took place for that psotion the manager was telling employees to apply for compliance and one the employees who applied for manager postion worked in compliance and she did get the manager postion and manager did the same thing when hiring for compliance she told employees to apply for team lead and the employee who was team lead applied for compliance and she was telling emplyees before the interviews to apply for team lead
That sounds like a potentially serious issue regarding fair hiring practices. To provide you with the best information, can you share what actions, if any, have been taken since your report?
i believe my manager knew it was me who made the report she statred giving me ugly looks would not say hi to me and in jan * my access to update patients coverages was taken away and my responabilties were demoted to inbox duties which i did when i first started as an associate and the team lead psotion opened up and i applied and she hired a newer employee who has been there less than a year and i have been there almost 4 years and have exceeded in performance reviews
It sounds like you might be facing workplace retaliation, which is illegal. Here are some steps you might consider:
- Document all incidents of retaliation (dates, what happened, any witnesses).
- Report the retaliation to your HR department.
- Consider filing a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
