Hey ****! Here are some points to consider regarding your situation:
- Indiana is an at-will employment state, so employers can terminate employees for any reason that is not illegal (e.g., discrimination).
- If they terminate you due to the debt, it may not be illegal unless it breaches a specific contract or agreement.
- Consider discussing your concerns with HR to see if a resolution is possible.

Wouldn’t it be discrimination because it wasn’t a condition of employment before she started before she took the job
In Indiana, discrimination typically refers to unfair treatment based on protected characteristics like race, gender, age, etc. Being terminated due to a past debt might not be considered discrimination unless it involves a breach of contract or agreement. Have you checked if any employment contract terms were violated?
There was no contract, but I don’t know. I was just curious because they offered her a job told her that it was going to be just fine. They checked your credit. It’s no longer on her credit report. It’s an internal thing from that long ago.

In Indiana, employment is generally "at-will," meaning employers can terminate employees for almost any reason, except for illegal ones, like discrimination based on protected characteristics. Since there's no contract, it may not be considered discrimination. However, discussing the situation with HR or consulting a local attorney might be helpful to understand your specific rights and options.
