Summary

Receiving a subpoena generally requires court attendance. If you and the school reach an agreement, Pennsylvania law may allow this to be presented to the court. I live in Pennsylvania and have just gotten a Subpoena over a truant child. It states that I have pleaded not guilty, however, this is the only letter I have received. If the school and I were to come to an agreement, for example, classes to help with my child's attendance issue, would I still need to attend court?
If you've received a subpoena, it generally means you're required to attend court. However, if you and the school reach a resolution:
- Pennsylvania law may allow this agreement to be presented to the court
- Court attendance may still be required to present this agreement
It's best to consult with a local attorney to understand your specific situation.
