Okay so I’m interested in a TPR against my kids bio father. As he isn’t in their life. Doesn’t pay support, has never paid support. Hasn’t contacted them in almost a year. He moved from Ohio to Virginia and I have no contact information or address for him. I moved from Ohio to Florida a year ago the last time he saw them was January 26th. He’s made zero contact since then. There’s no original custody order. We were never married, we lived in Ohio. He’s only on the birth certificates and that’s it. I left the state with my kids as he was texting people (I have the proof) saying he was going to kill me bc my kids had voiced they didn’t want to see him and since there was no custody order I wasn’t making them go. I’m a survivor of DV and sexual assault. He also at one time has an investigation for sexual assault against a minor. Both mothers are willing to write affidavits for me. I never filed a report.
I'm really sorry to hear about your situation. In Florida, to terminate parental rights (TPR), you'll generally need to demonstrate that the biological father has abandoned the child, which seems applicable here. A few steps and considerations:
- Abandonment: If he hasn't contacted the children or provided support for a significant period, it might be grounds for abandonment.
- Evidence of Threats: Document any threats you received and gather affidavits from witnesses.
- Legal Assistance: Consider reaching out to a family law attorney to guide you through the process, especially given the complexity of your situation.

I was to scared and once I got out I just couldn’t go through the entire process he had started dating his 2nd baby mama and finally after 10 years of pure hell left me alone. I have messages from his 3rd baby mama where she said that she was relieved when she found out I fled with my kids bc she truly believes that if I had stayed I wouldn’t be here today.
It sounds like you're in a challenging situation, and it's important to address it safely and legally. Would you like assistance in connecting with a local attorney who can provide guidance on terminating parental rights and ensure you and your kids are protected?
