Hi Tia! What's your legal issue? I'll do my best to provide some helpful information.
My ex husband claims I used his bank account unknowingly. Police stopped by on Friday after I was assaulted on Thursday by someone else. Saying they wanted to ask a few questions to close that tip and lied to get into my home which makes me feel violated. Then they said they had full intent to arrest me, but after I told my side of the story they said this sounds like it could be a civil matter, but we have to check with your ex-husband. Basically, I was making payments to my credit card with his bank information because he has back taxes and they keep taking my back taxes from the IRS but my divorce documents say that when we left the marriage, each other’s debts are their own. I asked him how he was going to make payments. He has forgotten our agreement and claims I’ve been doing it in bad faith. I’m very scared. his sister works for the sheriffs department and she hated me. When we got divorced, I never took alimony. I didn’t want half of our assets like his boat. I just left.
Hi Tia, I'm sorry to hear about your situation. It sounds quite complex. Here are a few things to consider:
- You should gather all relevant documents, such as the divorce decree and any written agreements between you and your ex-husband regarding debts.
- It might be helpful to consult with a family law attorney to understand your rights and obligations related to the divorce agreement.
- Since the police were involved and it made you feel violated, you might also want to discuss this with a criminal defense attorney to see if any of your rights were infringed upon.
