I've been divorced now for (*) years. Part of the agreement when my ex wife and I split our debt was that I'd remove her from a certain debt within (*) days of the divorce. It's been awhile I know. But...in order for me to remove her name from certain debt I need to refinance. I'm unable to refinance due to my credit score/history. I do make monthly payments towards this debt and I only have about $8k left before the debt is paid. My question is...if my ex tries to get legal involved can I get in trouble for something that is out of my hands?
Possible consequences include:
- Contempt of court charge: If it's an explicit court order, you could face penalties for not complying.
- Legal action by your ex: She may sue you for breaching the agreement.
You should consult a legal professional to clarify your situation and find potential solutions.
