Condo Board Accommodation Breach
Summary
If a condo board accepts a written reasonable accommodation but fails to fully uphold it, this may constitute a breach. Document all interactions and consider contacting a local fair housing organization or filing a complaint with the Ohio Civil Rights Commission for guidance.Full Conversation
yes, the accommodation was put in writing to the board president. the board never asked for any clarifications from me...no interactive process, it was accepted as i wrote it. now they want to pick and choose what they want to uphold, as far as noise violations.
It sounds like you may be dealing with a potential breach of the accommodation agreement by the condo board. In Ohio, reasonable accommodations documented in writing and accepted by the board should typically be upheld in full. Here are some steps you can consider:
*. Document Everything: Keep a record of all communications and interactions with the board.
*. Review the Agreement: Check the specific terms of the written agreement.
*. Seek Legal Advice: Consulting with a local attorney specializing in housing law may help enforce the accommodation fully.
Would you like to connect with a local lawyer who can assist you further with this issue?
no, i can't afford a lawyer, but thank you.
Got it. Here are a few more steps you can take on your own:
- Contact a Local Fair Housing Organization: They can offer guidance and sometimes mediation services.
- File a Complaint: You may file a complaint with the Ohio Civil Rights Commission.
Would you like more information on how to file a complaint?
ok thanks. i've asked the board to put into writing why they think they should not uphold the whole RA and gave them a week to do so. then i will probably contact hud.
