Identity Theft Comcast Account
Summary
Dawn Dixon from Texas discovered her name was fraudulently used to open a Comcast account. She had multiple interactions with Comcast and was asked to fill out an ID Theft Claim Packet. She also had a credit ID monitoring service which alerted her to a collection status. She wrote to Comcast and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in 2022 to resolve the issue. However, in 2023, a different collection company picked up the delinquency. She was advised to report the identity theft to local police, contact the Federal Trade Commission, inform credit bureaus, and consider legal representation. She was also informed about the Texas Attorney Generals Offices assistance in cases of identity theft.Full Conversation
