I was renting a trailer from my brother , I got behind on rent , he told me he was going to have me evicted but never actually went through any legal actions to have me evicted. He went into my trailer and he and his wife took my belongings and have been selling them online. He will not allow me to get any of my things from the home and has since had me trespassed from the property. Can I do anything to get what belongings I have left and can I press charges for the things he took of mine and sold.
Hi ****! I'm sorry to hear about your situation. You might have legal options such as:
- Filing a police report for theft, as taking and selling your belongings without consent is illegal.
- Considering a civil lawsuit for conversion to recover your belongings or their value.
- Seeking a restraining order if you feel threatened.
Have you considered contacting local authorities or a lawyer for assistance with this matter?
I did call law enforcement to meet me at the property one day so I could get some of my belongings but my brother instead talked the police officer into verbally trespassing me from the property
Hi ****! It sounds like a challenging situation. Since your brother hasn't legally evicted you, you might still have rights to your belongings. Here are a few steps you can consider:
- File a Police Report: Report the theft of your belongings to the police.
- Civil Lawsuit: Consider suing for conversion to recover your items or their value.
- Legal Advice: Consult a lawyer for personalized guidance.
Have you thought about speaking with a lawyer to explore your options further?
