Landlord Mold Remediation Dispute
Summary
If a landlord fails to fulfill mold remediation obligations, tenants can document the situation and seek legal advice. In Colorado, tenants may contact the Colorado Bar Association for guidance on lawyer withdrawal and file a complaint with the Colorado Supreme Court Office of Attorney Regulation if a lawyers firm fails to notify them properly. i sent a warrant of habitability notice on */*/* my landlord retaliated and filed eviction, and lost. i was the prevailing party and the landlord was ordered to begin mold remediation within 10 days, i was ordered to pay $* within 30 days. i have not paid the $*, due to the landlord not fulfilling his obligations, its been over 90 days and so far all they have done, is removed half of my carpet, exposing a very moldy and rotting subfloor, and their installing hardwood floor ontop of the moldy, rotting subfloor. by law my landlord is supposed to provide me with a hotel room to stay in while they remediate but they refuse. i have a contingency lawyer who has since declared he is no longer parter at his firm and that the firm no longer will be representing me, however, how do i file for relief or to sue that firm for not notifying me about their decision to no longer represent me... what should i do? i live in aurora colorado which is part of arapahoe county.
It sounds like you're dealing with a complex situation. Here are some steps you might consider:
- Document Everything: Keep a record of all communications with your landlord, the mold remediation process, and your previous lawyer's withdrawal.
- Contact the Colorado Bar Association: They can provide guidance on your lawyer's withdrawal and help find new legal representation.
- File a Complaint: If your previous lawyer's firm failed to notify you properly, you can file a complaint with the Colorado Supreme Court Office of Attorney Regulation.
