It’s about a landlord and tenant case
Hi ****! Could you please provide more details about your landlord and tenant issue? For example, is it about eviction, repair issues, lease disputes, or something else?
It’s about an eviction but the leasing manager lied about the amount owed
That sounds like a tough situation. In New York, tenants have specific rights, especially regarding eviction proceedings.
- Notice Requirement: Landlords must provide a written notice before initiating eviction.
- Right to a Court Hearing: Tenants can present their side in court.
- Documentation: Keep all records of payments and communication.
Have you already received a court notice regarding the eviction?

Have you already received a court notice regarding the eviction?
Yes I received it last month and she filed it before the month was even over. Also she has now blocked me from the rental portal so I can’t continue to make payments even though I have not been to court yet.

Blocking you from the rental portal complicates your ability to make payments, which could be used to your disadvantage in court. You should gather all your payment records and communication with the landlord. Have you tried to communicate with the leasing office about being blocked from the rental portal?

Yes I have tried to speak with the leasing manager but she refuses to talk to me. She’s trying to force me to pay my rent with a check instead of using the portal which isn’t her decision to make. She has basically removed me from the system as if I’m not a resident still.
