Property Auction Dispute Resolution

Summary

If your property was auctioned off wrongly by Public Storage, you should review your rental agreement for auction procedures and gather all relevant evidence, such as receipts and communication records. You can file a formal complaint with Public Storage detailing your situation. If unresolved, consider consulting a local attorney, especially since you are due in County Court in 10 days. Colorado law and Public Storage policy may allow you to stop the auction by paying your balance in full before the sale is completed.

My property that I had in a storage unit was auctioned off wrongly by Public Storage
Hi ****! I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Did you receive any notice or warning from Public Storage before they auctioned off your property?
I knew the date that it was going to be auctioned and I went to the office to make a partial payment openThat would stop the auction. my unit received no bids and the manager told me that Public Storage would call me in a couple days so that I could pick up my property so that they would not have to dispose of it when I did set up a time to pick it up, I got to the property and was told that I cannot get my property as I was not in a moving truck. I had a pick up truck at that time I had made a $* payment and had a balance of $*. My unit was up for auction and three more days on the morning of the auction. I was first Customer at Public Storage and paid the $* balance after which the manager informed me that my unit had been sold at auction * minutes prior according to policy of Public Storage and state statue I have until the time the unit sale is complete to pay in full and receive my property
Hey ****, that sounds really frustrating. Based on Colorado law and the policy of Public Storage, you should have been able to stop the auction by paying your balance in full before the sale was completed.
Here are some steps you might consider:
- Review Your Contract: Check your rental agreement for any specific terms about auction procedures.
- Gather Evidence: Keep all receipts and communication records with Public Storage.
- Write a Complaint: Send a formal complaint to Public Storage, detailing your situation.
- Consider Legal Action: If the issue isn't resolved, you might want to consult with a local attorney for further steps.
