Property Inheritance Legalities

Full Conversation

I am named in a civil suit where someone I am supposedly related to died at least * yrs ago. He gave property that he owned to a church, the deed states that of the church no longer was going to use the property for church purposes, it was to go back to him or his descendants if he was dead. Hey genealogy report was done, and it says that I am one of his descendants, I don’t believe this to be true, I want to know what would happen if I entered into this lawsuit and got any kind of money.
Hello ****. If you choose to participate in this lawsuit and win, you could potentially receive a portion of the property's value. However, it's important you consult with a lawyer to understand your rights and potential tax implications. Also, could you please let me know your location so I can provide more specific information?

Hello ****. In Pennsylvania:
- Any financial gain from a lawsuit is considered income and could be subject to taxes.
- If you win the lawsuit as a descendant, you would inherit the property's value.
- Consult with a local attorney to understand better.
