Mr. A - Original Landlord
Mr. B - Rents the place from Mr. A but with a balance remaining, and once he moves into the apartment, he will pay the balance sum of money to Mr. A. However, Mr. B did not move into the apartment and decided to rent the apartment to Mrs. C without the knowledge of Mr. A, who is the original landlord.
Mrs. C - Rents the property from Mr. B and was not aware of any landlord other than Mr. B until the day she decided to change the zinc roof. At that point, the original landlord, Mr. A, met her and questioned her about who rented her the apartment. She promptly said that Mr. B rented her the property, and it is Mr. B she knows to be the landlord. Mr. A tells Mrs. C that he owns the place, not Mr. B, and also that Mr. B is yet to complete the payment for the place, as he never moved in.
Because of that, Mr. A decided to refund Mr. B's initial rent money, which was Nle3000 for two years. Mrs. C realized the place needed some improvement, but she wasn't ready to spend much on it, so she too decided to rent out the place.
Mrs. D - Was contacted by Mrs. C, who knew that Mrs. D was in search of a place. Mrs. D went to look at the apartment, was okay with it, and intended to make the necessary improvements. Mrs. D paid the rent to Mrs. C, which was now Nle3000 for one year. Then Mrs. D asked Mrs. C for the original landlord, and Mrs. C referred Mrs. D to Mr. A, the original landlord.
Mrs. D was under the impression that Mr. A was unable to refund Mrs. C's rent, so Mrs. C decided to rent the place to Mrs. D to cover her initial rent. Mrs. C never mentioned Mr. B as the landlord.
Mrs. C introduced Mrs. D to Mr. A, and when Mrs. D was making peripheral improvements to the place, she was even assisted by Mr. A. Mrs. D never knew Mr. B.
Mrs. D paid Nle3000 for another year to Mr. A because Mrs. C had told her that Mr. A is the original landlord, which doubled to two years' rent, making the total Nle6000 plus Nle1500 in improvements.
After Mrs. D had made the necessary improvements and had rented the place, Mr. B came to Mrs. D, claiming that he had rented the property to Mrs. C and that her time was up, therefore Mrs. C should hand over the place to him.
As noted earlier, Mr. A had already started refunding Mr. B's rent.
Now that Mrs. D has rented out the property, they say she has made a bit more profit, and they demand that she refund Mr. B, even though she had no contract with him.
