I need legal advice regarding traffic citations
Hello Terri, to provide you with relevant information, could you please tell me your location and more details about the traffic citation you received?
Petersburg, Tennessee. On May *, *, me and my adult daughter were traveling in her dad's truck in Petersburg Tennessee. An officer pulled in behind the truck at a store where I had just parked and turned off the vehicle. He said the plate on the truck caught his attention because it was improperly displayed. Long story short, I ended up being cited for the improper display of the tag, a seat belt violation for myself and I was also given one for my adult daughter. She was not even asked for identification. I was also cited for violation of the financial responsibility law here. I called the court and asked how much to pay it off and the woman said the cost is in excess of $*. I don't understand how it could possibly be that much, and I don't understand why I was cited for another adult not wearing a seatbelt. I thought they were responsible for themselves?
