I received a message from a "process server" regarding a summons and complaint that needed to be served. I was given a phone number and "case number" to call. When I called the number, I was informed by a "legal assistant" that the matter was in regards to a credit card debt with an account that was opened in * and last paid on in *. It was entirely possible that this card was opened by my ex-husband. I was threatened with a lawsuit and garnishment of wages. When I asked about the statute of limitations, I was told that there was a "tolling agreement" made that allowed the statute of limitations to extend and I was again threatened with a lawsuit and garnishment. Do I have an standing that this may actually still fall within a statute of limitations?
