Got it. How can I assist you with your legal issue, Brian? Could you provide a bit more detail about the situation?
Yes my son is being held in Blount county jail . Last year on June * he went to court and judge stated he didn’t pass drug test he would sentence him to 2 years well he passed on June * they showed up at his house and detained him for trafficking drugs well he has been back to Court.since then offering him a plea deal. We attended * of those which his court appointed lawyer told us they had the drugs in court well last week he had court and his lawyer stated to us that they didn’t have the drugs no video of the transaction no money where he received no data recorded stated that all she needed was her testimony but not according to Alabama laws
In Alabama, for a drug trafficking conviction, evidence such as the actual drugs, recorded transactions, or money exchanged typically plays a key role. Mere testimony without corroborating evidence may not meet the standard of proof required for conviction.
Your son’s court-appointed attorney can file motions to challenge the sufficiency of the evidence or the admissibility of testimony. If you're concerned about the quality of representation, you could consider hiring a private attorney for a more thorough defense.

Your son has the right to an attorney, whether court-appointed or privately hired, under the Sixth Amendment. A court-appointed attorney cannot prevent him from hiring a private lawyer if you can afford one. However, the court typically won’t assign a new court-appointed attorney unless there’s a valid reason (e.g., inadequate representation).

Here’s an example of wording you could use for the complaint:
---
Dear Alabama State Bar Consumer Assistance Program,
I am filing this complaint concerning [lawyer's name], the court-appointed attorney representing my son, [son's name], in his case currently pending in Blount County.
*. [Lawyer's name] has refused to allow my son to sign an affidavit granting me access to his discovery materials, despite his expressed consent. She claimed he does not have the right to do so.
*. She has not reviewed the discovery materials with my son, which is critical to his ability to understand and defend against the charges.
*. When we raised the possibility of hiring a private attorney, she stated that it was not allowed and became rude, discouraging us from exploring this option.
*. These actions seem to obstruct my son’s right to adequate representation, guaranteed under the Sixth Amendment.
I request that this matter be investigated promptly to ensure that my son receives the fair legal representation to which he is entitled.
Sincerely,
