I'm a delivery driver. I was on an Uber eats pick up from Walmart that the Walmart employees shop for customer items and load into my personal vehicle for me to deliver. A few hours after I was done delivering I went to the store for myself for dog food and when I got home to unload it out of my hatch, I noticed there was a strong bleach smell and a large still wet bleached area in my upholstery where they loaded that bleach earlier. My insurance is not going to cover this I only have liability. Who's responsible?
Hey ****! It sounds like Walmart may be responsible for the damage caused by the bleach spill, as their employees loaded it into your vehicle. You could consider filing a claim with Walmart, detailing the incident and requesting compensation for the damages. Have you contacted Walmart about this issue yet?
No I have not because I was working for Uber eats technically not Walmart. I did use the app on Uber eats to report the issue. I didn't know if it was a breach of contract somehow for me to directly contact Walmart about this since I was delivering for Uber eats

I know how to contact Uber eats but still wasn't sure after I read terms of use through Uber eats what the protocol is exactly for a third party damaging vehicle in this situation. I didn't want to reach out to Walmart directly because I know in some circumstances that's breaking chain of command or similar

I know it says that they're not responsible for any damage incurred on your deliveries. But I wondered if it was a different story when it's not something you personally picked up and loaded into your vehicle yourself

Hey ****! Generally, if the damage is caused by a third party, like Walmart employees, the situation might differ. It could be worth exploring whether Walmart has liability for damages caused during loading. You might want to contact Uber Eats support for clarity on this policy.
