Today my wife hit a truck that I think was parked illegally. It was parked partially on the sidewalk and partially on the road. This is a near a university so the sidewalk is sort of larger at the crosswalk, which creates a narrow roadway. This truck is parked in the narrow roadway. There doesn't appear to be a "loading" or "delivery" sign so I don't think there are any exemptions.
Hi ****! It sounds like a tricky situation. In Ontario, some key points to consider are:
- Vehicles obstructing sidewalks may be ticketed for improper parking.
- If the truck obstructed traffic, it might be at fault.
- Gather evidence (photos, witness accounts) to support your claim.
Was there any damage or injury involved in the accident?
There is damage to our car. I have a video showing how narrow the roadway was and the smaller car in front of her had a difficult time getting through. She is in an SUV.
It sounds like you have some valuable evidence with the video. You should consider the following steps:
- Report the accident to your insurance company.
- Document any damages to your car.
- Consider contacting the local authorities to report the improperly parked truck.
Would you like to be connected to local lawyers who can assist you further with this case?
No thank you.
